I couldn't help thinking of X/1999 the entire time I read this. I actually wonder if CLAMP didn't go back and reread this volume while thinking of new ideas for manga, or perhaps had it planned all along...? Well, I found it funny and rather ironic that the pretenders were fighting one of the REAL chosen ones *cough cough * Subaru~ (Mild spoiler: They're also more right than they'll ever know over which people are enemies >.> *shifty eyes* )
So, the art is already looking closer to their new style. It settles into a better pace by this volume, in my opinion. I'm hugely enjoying reading all of CLAMP's old stuff... It's fun, interesting, goes at a good storytelling pace for me, and even gets kind of cute. Dah. But most of all I like Sei-chan's warped behavior.
As for rating, meh, PG13 or so. If you are not ok with shounen-ai (boyxboy), give it a wide birth. Though Subaru's not in on it, just Seishiro and Hokuto, so it ends up being mostly humorous dialogue so far. It has a lot of magic, witchcraft, and more (HECK, it's the whole concept). There is mild violence.
Know what stinks? Seishiro. He is one sick, sick dude X) Already knowing from X what happens, I cannot get over how warped that man is. His whole view on life is askew... I love him, of course, but still X) He's a complete and total jerk. It's all one, big, cruel game to him... Even in X, (X spoiler!) when he dies, he in theory chooses the meanest thing he could've said as his last words. Poor little Subaru :/

CLAMP originally began in 1989 as a twelve-member dōjinshi circle, but by 1990, the circle had diminished from twelve to seven. Of the remaining seven, Tamayo Akiyama, Sei Nanao, and Leeza Sei left the group during the production of the RG Veda manga. Other former members of CLAMP also included Soushi Hishika, O-Kyon, Kazue Nakamori, Yuzuru Inoue and Shinya Ōmi. Currently, there are four members in the group.
In 2004, CLAMP's 15th anniversary as a mangaka group, the members changed their names from Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona Apapa, Mick Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi to Ageha Ohkawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi (her name is pronounced the same, but written with different characters) respectively. The August 2004 issue of Newtype USA, a magazine specializing in events of the anime and manga subcultures, reported that the members of CLAMP simply wanted to try out new names. In a later interview with Ohkawa, it was revealed that initially Mokona wanted to drop her surname because it sounded too immature for her liking, while Nekoi disliked people commenting that her name was the same as Mick Jagger's. Ohkawa and Igarashi, wanting to go with the flow of Nekoi's and Mokona's name changes, changed their names as well.
In 2006, they made their first USA public debut at Anime Expo in Anaheim, California. They were well received at the convention, with 6,000 fans in attendance at their panel.
